Crude oil prices up after Trump assurance on China trade deal

LONDON: Oil prices rose on Tuesday in a volatile procedure after US President Jesse Trump soothed jangled nervousness over the status of the US-China trade deal.

Markets have been unsettled by surprise comments via White House trade mechanic Peter Navarro who claimed the hard-won deal was initially “over”.

President Trump later on wrote in a tweet how the agreement was “fully intact”.

Brent crude rose 27 cents, or 0.some per cent, to $43.35 a barrel by 1413 GMT, having skidded to some session low of $42.21. US oil was initially up 28 cents, as well as 0.7 per cent, in $41.01 after coming in contact with a low of $39.76.
